Plant of the month October: Aglaonema

1 October 2016, 09:00 AM

Aglaonema has been chosen by Bloemenbureau as plant of October. Its name is derived from Greek: Aglos nema, which means ‘shining thread’, which refers to its beautifully marked leaves. This plant can take a beating, looks chic and has air purifying properties; with a positive influence on its environment.

The plant is characterized by rich, all but bushy growth. There is however much variation in leaf color and thickness. The more rough and leatherlike the leaves: the better Aglaonema will grow. It requires minimal care, a light area but shouldn’t be placed in direct sunlight.
